Holy Trinity Godmanstone celebrated its Patronal Festival with a vibrant and joy filled Choral Evensong led by the Sherborne Chamber Choir. The Revd Jonathan Still preached a memorable sermon on the Holy Trinity using three balloons as a reminder that even an ancient church depends on the life and goodwill of its community. The visual of balloons floating among peonies and evening light set a warm, celebratory tone before the congregation settled into the beauty of Evensong.

The church was full, drawing people from well beyond the parish as well as many villagers who seldom attend services. Families, former wedding couples and those christened at Holy Trinity all returned, making the occasion feel like a true community party. Hospitality continued in the sunlit churchyard, with some guests lingering long afterwards in the pews, glasses in hand, enjoying the atmosphere.

The parish expressed deep gratitude for the grant, which helped make the celebration possible and seemed to rekindle a sense of warmth and renewed connection within the ancient building.
