St George’s marked its Patronal Festival with a warm and well attended Choral Evensong, blessed with fine weather and enriched by the choir under Alan Thurlow and Mary. The timeless cadences of the Book of Common Prayer framed the celebration. Fr Stephen Hoy, assisted by Jane Ambrose, led the service and preached on the theme of courage, reflecting on St George’s witness and on the parish’s own character, which he described as ‘rooted and connected’ in its practical love for the community.

Afterwards, refreshments and a special cake extended the fellowship, and many lingered to enjoy the evening light over newly harrowed fields, a gentle reminder of the parish’s call to remain grounded and fruitful. The festival offered a heartening expression of worship and community life.
