About this church
Merton College Chapel has been a place of prayer and worship for over seven hundred years. Work on the church of St Mary and St John, now the (large) Quire of Merton College Chapel, started from the late 1280s. The T-shape of the chapel provided a model for many subsequent Oxbridge chapels.

About the choir
The Choir of Merton College, Oxford consists of approx. thirty undergraduates and post-graduates, many of whom hold choral scholarships with the college. The choir is Oxford's newest Choral Foundation, begun in its current form in 2008, and currently directed by professional choral director Benjamin Nicholas.
