The choir leads special services such as Palm Sunday evening, Advent Sunday and the Nine Lessons and Carols. It sings in Ash Wednesday and Ascension Day services, and on other special occasions. It attends  weddings and funerals.when requested, and sings carols in local care homes and shopping centres.

With friends from the community the St Mary's Festival Choir performs a Passion Cantata (such as "The c~rucifixion") on Good Friday, and an appropriate work (such as Faure's Requiem) on Remembrance Sunday evening.

Family Services are usually on the second Sunday, without a choir. There is no choir in August.

The church is currently seeking a regular organist for morning services, but has an excellent organist, for evenings and rehearsals. The choir is thriving without a Diirector of Music. A Singing Day is held each year,,usually in September.

Evensong is held on Sundays at 6:30pm. A full Choral Evensong is held once a month.

About this church

Built to serve the rapidly growing population of suburban Kent in 1863, as the railways made travel to central London quick and affordable, it gained the repuitation of the "ugliest church in the suburbs". The addition of a chancel and transepts in 1898 transformed the church into one of the most beautiful, and acoustically responsive, of churches. The "Arts and Crafts" style decoration of the chancel walls and ceiling has been recentl;y restored to its original glory. It has a superb three manual William Hill organ, complementing the long hisotry of musical exellence at St Mary's.

About the choir

A robed SATB choir leads worship and sings an appropriate anthem at Sunday morning Parish Communion and weekly evensong  in St Mary's. Choral Evensong is usually on the third Sunday of the month and sung Mattins on the fifth Sunday morning. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings in the church at 7.30 p.m.and welcomes new members of any age.
