Choral BCP Eucharist 6pm first Sunday of every month
(please check our music list if making a special trip and to avoid disappointment)
The parish is a medieval one, with the current building dating from 1880. It is an attractive medium-sized Victorian church designed by George Edmund Street.
St Mary's Choir has a tradition extending back for well over 120 years of providing a high standard of music for the services of the church. In addition to the weekly Sunday morning services, Book of Common Prayer Choral Eucharist and Choral Evensong services are sung to traditional settings on the first and third Sunday evenings respectively of each month. Full choral settings are also sung on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Ascension Day.
The choir has sung services at Chichester Cathedral, as well as our own diocesan cathedral of Guildford and sang the weekend services at Chichester on 5 & 6 September this year.
The choir has been affiliated to the RSCM since 1969. The junior choristers follow the 'Voice for Life' scheme and take the RSCM’s examinations for Dean’s and Bishop’s Awards once they are of the appropriate standard.
**NB: Be sure to check the music list link (left column of this page) before travelling to the church, as there can often be discrepancies between that and the times on the calendar below.**
