No-one knows when the first church of All Saints' was built. In 673 A.D., the first Synod of all the Bishops in England was held at Hertford suggesting there was at least one church here then. We do know that All Saints' is one of two churches mentioned in the Domesday book.
A fire destroyed the old building in 1891 and a completely new one built The church is typical of those designed by H.J. Austen and is built of Runcorn stone, as is Liverpool Cathedral. The style is Victorian perpendicular and All Saints' is the largest church in Hertfordshire, apart from St Albans Abbey, seating up to 1,000 people.
The tower rises 140 feet from the ground. A peal of 10 bells was installed in 1907.

We have a great team of skilled and enthusiastic choristers. Choral Evensongs are normally sung by the Adult members plus sixth-form Choral Scholars. More information about the choirs can be found at http://www.allsaintshertford.org/choir.php
Our repertoire is extensive and as ambitious as we feel able to do well, ranging from the Tudor greats to much contemporary music. The choir is supported by our fine 'Father' Willis organ http://www.allsaintshertford.org/organ.php
Do come and hear us.
**NB: Be sure to check the music list link (left column of this page) before travelling to the church, as there can often be discrepancies between that and the times on the calendar below.**
